Despite a long beta testing program and ambitious new features, the stable version of One UI 7 has brought its share of inconveniences. Many users of the Galaxy S24, which received the update in April, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are complaining of a freefalling battery life since installing the update. This raises some concerns about the optimization of this version of the OS based on Android 15.
One UI 7 is not good for the battery life of some Galaxy
Since the deployment of One UI 7, the official forums of Samsung and the communities Reddit is seeing a proliferation of testimonies from dissatisfied users. The cause: abnormally high energy consumption, particularly on the brand's most recent models. One Galaxy Z Fold 6 owner claims he now ends his days with barely 20 to 25% battery, compared to nearly 50% before the update. This observation is far from isolated: other similar testimonies abound, especially on the Galaxy S24.
While slight overconsumption can be explained in the days following a major update, while the system reindexes data and adapts to usage, the problem persists for many beyond this period. The general feeling is one of a notable impoverishment of the user experience, which clashes with the promises of efficiency and fluidity touted by Samsung.
Temporary solutions and a long-awaited fix
Faced with these inconveniences, some users are sharing tips that seem, in some cases, to be effective. Among the most common: clearing the system cache from recovery mode, or waiting up to two weeks for One UI 7 to adjust to your usage habits. But these methods are nothing short of miraculous, and their effectiveness remains unpredictable.
The most radical solution is to perform a complete reset of the phone. This laborious process would allow you to regain decent battery life, according to some users. It is very likely that Samsung is working behind the scenes to fix this bug in a future update. The fix could arrive as early as the May 2025 update, which will aim to further stabilize One UI 7 and fix these power-hungry issues that affect the brand's high-end devices.
