While most Galaxy smartphones are still waiting for the arrival of the latest version of Samsung's interface, One UI7 based on Android 15, the manufacturer's smartwatches could receive one of the notable features of One UI7.
This is what we learn from Android Authority. Watches like the Galaxy Watch7 or the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra should soon benefit from the Now Bar and the Now Brief.
If you don't understand what we're talking about here, let's quickly summarize. The Now Bar is a system of stacks on the interface that reminds you of current activities and allows you to switch between them easily. This could be a running race, a route, a timer, audio, etc.
The Now Brief is a summary of your day. If you're at the beginning of it, it will tell you what's coming up, and if you're closer to the end, you'll get a summary instead.
Two features that would be perfect for a watch
These two ideas could very well integrate into the experience of a connected watch. Indeed, multitasking isn't always easy on such a small screen, so the Now Bar could make it easier to switch from one activity to another. The Now Brief could allow you to get a summary of information in a short time, which is also a good idea on a watch where you don't necessarily want to read for too long.
Why do our colleagues think these new features should arrive on Samsung watches? Because by digging into the code of a future version of the watch interface (SecClockWorkSysUI version 4.0.57), various character sequences indicate this quite clearly.
A little idea of the design
Among the elements found in their investigations, a visual shows how Samsung would integrate the Now Bar on the dial.
One point particularly catches the eye in the code, implying that it would be possible to open the Now Bar using a simple hand gesture and without even touching the screen. This would be done using the famous double pinch.
This new feature should in principle arrive with the new version of the interface for smartwatches, One UI8 Watch, which should be launched this summer with One UI8 and the Seoul firm's new folding smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7.
