Are you no longer sure which is the best choice between the old GPT 3.5 models, models like GPT 40 for everyday use, or GPT 03 for more advanced research? Don't worry, you're not alone, and OpenAI seems to have finally figured it out!
Since its launch, Sam Altman's firm has continued to multiply its artificial intelligence models, to the point of causing confusion for users.
While this can be explained by the many different tasks these models perform, their names are considered far too similar, and rightly so. However, this may no longer be the case in the next version of the OpenAI model…
Towards a multi-modal model?
While some figures like Sam Altman tend to express themselves more on social networks like X, formerly Twitter, it was on a Reddit AMA thread for "Ask Me Anything" that Jerry Tworek, vice president of OpenAI, decided to speak out.
In an exchange with OpenAI users, he mentioned the company's desire to bring together existing models into a new AI model. However, this next version should not stop there, because Jerry Tworek also stated that these models should be improved at the same time.
With a GPT 5 that aims to be multi-modal, it should be able to automatically switch from one model to another, in a completely transparent way for users.
What interface for GPT 5?
While we now know that GPT 5 promises to be multi-modal, OpenAI has not yet spoken about the interface that its new artificial intelligence model will still have.
Although users have become accustomed to ChatGPT's conversational interface, this may not be sufficient depending on the different uses. With the arrival of GPT 5, OpenAI should not only face a technological challenge, but also advanced thinking about the user interface.
A challenge for the company's servers
Last March, OpenAI caused a sensation by announcing its GPT 4o model, even causing stability problems for OpenAI's servers.
By choosing to bring all its models together into a single multi-modal model, OpenAI could once again be faced with similar problems.
And while it is still far too early to know whether the company will be able to meet this challenge or not, as no date has yet been officially announced, its latest fundraising of $40 billion should allow it to reach its goal without difficulty...
