Persona 5 is finally getting ready to make a long-awaited announcement for many fans.

Having become a leading JRPG reference since its release in 2016, Persona 5 is now one of the favorite episodes of fans of the ATLUS license. As proof, in less than ten years of existence, the title has already been entitled to several re-releases and other ports, not to mention the numerous spin-offs that have resulted from it. And it appears that one of them will very soon be making headlines again, with a potential announcement that could extremely please players.

A mysterious teaser for Persona 5 The Phantom X

A few hours ago, the ATLUS West X account indeed posted a rather enigmatic tweet. Featuring a Persona 5 The Phantom X-themed visual, it is simply accompanied by the following words: "I think you dropped this... Stay tuned!". A more than mysterious teaser, which also seems to refer to Lufel, the game's mascot, thanks to the presence of an owl emoji. Enough to lead Persona 5 fans to think that the announcement of a global release of the game could be imminent.

The timing of this teaser is all the more interesting since, as we know, a livestream dedicated to the title is scheduled for May 15th. The stream, which will be pre-recorded, is expected to reveal the Japanese release date of The Phantom X, currently scheduled for summer 2025. The studio is also expected to unveil a new trailer for the Persona 5 spin-off, along with some new gameplay footage and additional information on a potential English version.

It has also been announced that many of the key figures involved in its production will be attending. ATLUS will be joined by Yosuke Uda (chief producer) and Yusuke Nitta (director and writer), while Sega will be represented by Jun Matsunaga (producer) and Yuta Sakai (director of operations). Two actresses, namely Kaede Hondo (Motoha Arai) and Chika Anzai (YUI), will also be in the game.

Towards a worldwide release for the game?

As a reminder, Persona 5 The Phantom X is a free-to-play game developed for mobile platforms (iOS and Android) and PC. Currently, the game is only available in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and South Korea, where it has had an early access release. ATLUS and Sega, however, have not failed to share their desire to offer it in other markets in the future, which explains the excitement surrounding this teaser. Let's hope for good news, then, in the coming days.
