While eagerly awaiting GTA 6 next year, Rockstar Games hasn't forgotten its two latest major titles, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. The latter is making headlines again via an exclusive report from Gamereactor. According to our colleagues, the Wild West should soon reach a whole new audience and be more in tune with the times, all this no later than this year.
Red Dead Redemption 2 entering a new generation?
After the PC port of the first Red Dead Redemption last November, Red Dead Redemption 2 is back in the spotlight with a potential new port. Earlier this year, a leak suggested that Rockstar Games' latest masterpiece could be getting a Nintendo Switch 2 version, among other major titles. Fast forward to today, where Gamereactor has released an exclusive report confirming this, according to sources close to the studio. Like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring, among many other third-party games, Rockstar is reportedly planning to take advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2's more powerful hardware to bring the magnificent Wild West of Red Dead Redemption 2 to the new console from the Big N. Gamereactor hasn't reported a specific release date for this port, however, other than stating that it would arrive "later this year." This wouldn't be the only surprise Rockstar has in store for the game later this year. Gamereactor's report also mentions that, in addition to a Switch 2 port, Red Dead Redemption 2 could be getting a next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. We can also expect an Enhanced Edition version on PC, equivalent to the one available for GTA 5 since last March. However, we will have to wait for official announcements from Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive to know for sure.
