We've known for a while that the next Resident Evil is in development. Currently, everyone agrees that it would be Resident Evil 9, a new numbered installment in the franchise. Now that Monster Hunter Wilds is well underway, Capcom has every interest in bringing out its other flagship games. We know that the remake of Onimusha is in the pipeline, as is Pragmata, which has been silent for a looooong time. Fans are therefore waiting for only one thing: news about all these games. And from what we're hearing, a certain Resident Evil 9 could well show up in a few days.
A Resident Evil 9 reveal imminent? It's quite possible
Capcom at Summer Game Fest 2025? It's highly likely! The publisher/developer never misses an opportunity to make a name for itself. It's a regular at almost every conference, regardless of the manufacturer, when it's not holding its own in-house events. We know the pattern. Usually, Capcom unveils one of its games at a big conference before going into detail via one of its own showcases. The Summer Game Fest could therefore be the opportunity to learn more about the publisher's upcoming games, including Resident Evil 9, apparently.
In any case, that's what the often very informed Nate the Hate, known for his good information, suggests. The insider was questioned on social media before dropping an enigmatic sentence of his own in response to a user. "I know that a few Japanese games will be presented and/or revealed at the SGF. Your expectations don't seem too high, so you should "shudder" in your own words, the tipster said on online forums when fans theorized about the appearance of certain franchises, including Resident Evil 9. Moreover, the double-meaning of the word thrilled (thrill) in quotation marks is not there for nothing. The insider very often uses these kinds of enigmatic little phrases to drop his information, it could well be the case here once again. That's what some rumors say
A highly anticipated game, but about which we know nothing at all
It's not a crazy idea to think that Capcom will present Resident Evil 9 to us at the Summer Game Fest. The game has been in development for a while now and it could very well be one of the big releases of 2026, as other rumors suggest, or even perhaps 2027 if ever. In any case, a teaser or a bit of gameplay seem perfectly playable, just to whet our appetites and reveal some information about it. For the moment we know nothing at all about it, but some rumors speak of a resounding return of Leon S Kennedy as a playable character. So we'll see.
