His wife, who died at his hands at the end of Revenge of the Sith in 2005, was buried there, but her rest was short-lived... Five years after the publication of this story, in the fourth issue of the Legacy of Vader series, by Charles Soule and Stefano Raffaele, Kylo Ren travels to Naboo to learn more about his grandfather. He is accompanied on his quest by Vaneé, the former servant and steward of the Sith Lord in his castle on Mustafar. There, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa learns of his grandmother's existence and the repercussions of Darth Vader's visit to Padmé Amidala's tomb years before... Between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader traveled to Padmé's tomb on Naboo, where he was "welcomed" by his wife's former handmaidens. Unfortunately, the trap set for the Sith Lord by the former Senator's followers proved insufficient against the power of this one, and the consequences of this attack on Darth Vader proved dire. In Legacy of Vader #4, two Naboo civilians can be seen warning Kylo Ren not to approach Padmé's old tomb, near the lake where she and Anakin were married, because a "spirit of death" haunts the place. And for good reason: this spirit of death refers to Darth Vader, who ransacked the tomb and erased all traces of Padmé from the face of Naboo following the attack. Her legacy has been permanently trampled by Darth Vader, and everything she fought for is gone...
As for Kylo Ren, he proves himself worthy of his grandfather, whose influence he is under, since he also attacks the legacy of his grandmother, Padmé Amidala. He decides to become King of Naboo, where she has worked so hard for the peace and happiness of its inhabitants. To gain acceptance from those he now considers his "subjects," he is prepared to use strong-arm tactics... Of course, they remain loyal to the memory of their lost Queen, despite the efforts of Darth Vader, and now his grandson, to erase the diplomat's traces on Naboo. Faced with this resistance, Kylo Ren may well prove to be as implacable as Darth Vader in the rest of the series.
