Star Wars: Top 6 Best Video Games Inspired by the License

Fans know this date by heart. Every year, May 4th is a sacred moment for fans of the galaxy far, far away. With its now-iconic pun – May the Fourth be with you – this day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate all that Star Wars has brought to popular culture. Video games are obviously part of this. Because yes, for over forty years, the universe imagined by George Lucas has inspired video game gems that have left their mark on their era, each in their own way. Whether you're on the light side or the dark side, here are six must-have titles that deserve your full attention.

Please note: the games are not ranked in order of preference, but rather in order of gameplay requirements, from the most affordable to the least affordable. If you're a new player, focus on the first titles mentioned rather than the later ones.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

If you're looking for an experience that's fun, accessible, and full of nostalgia, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a must-have. The game features all nine of the main films in the saga with LEGO's signature humor, while completely modernizing its gameplay compared to previous installments. Each installment is packed with nods, challenges, and unlockable characters, and offers hours of exploration on iconic planets. It's the perfect game to rediscover the saga alone or with others thanks to the co-op mode. It's the most accessible game in the series in terms of gameplay and it's also the most fun in terms of story. In total, there are hundreds of playable characters from the Star Wars universe that you can control.

Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws is one of the most recent projects in the franchise. This open-world game innovates by putting us in the shoes of Kay Vess, an outlaw seeking to establish herself among the smugglers and cartels of the universe. With its open world and aesthetic inspired by the original trilogy, Outlaws is a unique adventure, far from the lightsabers and the great battles between Jedi and Sith since Kay does not master the Force. Although it encountered bugs at launch, the issue has now been resolved and the game promises exploration in multiple biomes that will bring back memories for fans of Star Wars.

Star Wars Squadrons

In a completely different atmosphere, Star Wars Squadrons is made for all those who dream of fighting aboard a spaceship. This game refocuses the entire experience on clashes between fighters, as close as possible to the cockpit. Whether at the controls of an X-Wing or a TIE fighter, the handling is quite precise and demanding, especially for those who are not used to piloting vehicles. Designed for both traditional players and those equipped with VR headsets, Squadrons also offers an immersive story mode.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor

With Fallen Order and its sequel Survivor, we go up a notch in terms of gameplay. Both titles are part of the Souls-lite genre, a lighter version of the demanding Souls-like. If you feel up to it, don't hesitate to take part in the adventure because Respawn Entertainment has signed with these two games one of the most beautiful video game surprises of the saga. They follow the adventures of Cal Kestis, a young Padawan hunted after Order 66. Skillfully blending exploration, platforming, puzzles, and lightsaber combat, these two episodes offer a dense single-player adventure full of twists and turns.

Star Wars Battlefront II

Although not considered particularly difficult, Star Wars Battlefront II comes last on our list because it is a multiplayer shooter. By definition, you are facing other players, certainly very experienced ones since the game was released several years ago. That said, it is an entry that we can only recommend for its wide range of playable characters, the fact that it is now very financially accessible and its immersion in the Star Wars universe.
