The Last of Us: What to expect at the end of season 2?

The end is near for The Last of Us on the small screen. Last Monday, viewers were able to discover a very special, but also very important, episode 6, which put Ellie's dangerous adventures on a nostalgic hold. There's no respite, there are only a few days left before the release of the final episode of this second season, and it already promises to be merciless. Here's what we can already expect next Monday.

The Last of Us: What to expect at the end of season 2?

The advantage with the series The Last of Us is that it's an adaptation, and it's particularly faithful to the source material. We can therefore easily turn to the eponymous video game to find the answer to some of our questions. That being said, the writers can decide at any time to change certain events to more easily retain the audience. So nothing is really certain.

But if we look at the chronology of the scenes in The Last of Us Part II, episode 7 should lead Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, to make crucial choices for her survival and that of her comrades. One thing is certain, get out the tissues because the end of this first part is going to be emotional.

At the Crossroads

Since their arrival in Seattle, Ellie and Dina have managed to avoid direct confrontations with the Washington Liberation Front (WLF). However, this episode could well change everything. Their quest for revenge is bringing them inexorably closer to the heart of the territory controlled by this paramilitary group, making an armed confrontation almost inevitable. This could mark a decisive turning point in their mission.

Reports suggest that Jesse may be accompanied by Joel's brother, Tommy. If This is confirmed, the reunion between Ellie and her uncle could bring a burst of emotion in an increasingly dark context. Tommy, having himself faced the loss of Joel, could offer Ellie his moral support, but could also disapprove of her escapade which has not been validated by Jackson's council.

At this point in their journey, a crucial question therefore arises. Will Ellie and her companions continue their quest for revenge, or will they choose to turn back? Recent events, including the loss of Joel and revelations about his past actions, are taking a heavy toll on Ellie. This moral dilemma may well be the crux of the episode, highlighting Ellie's internal conflicts between justice, revenge, and redemption. We'll have to wait until May 26 to find out for sure.
