The Nintendo Switch 2 isn't even out yet, but leaks are starting to surface about the sequel.

Only two weeks left, it's safe to say, before the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. After months, even years of speculation, the new console from Big N is finally about to hit the market. Given the success of the first, the stakes will be high to compete with colossal sales figures. And, like its big sister, it should also consider several variations. At least, that's what early indications suggest.

The future of a potential Nintendo Switch 2 Oled is already taking shape

It's no secret that the Kyoto-based company is particularly discreet about its suppliers. It's not for nothing that it was quick to react to the claims of some before the official presentation of its Nintendo Switch 2. However, our colleagues at Bloomberg have already had echoes concerning the future of the console. Or rather, the future of its variations.

You are probably aware that the first hybrid console had a lite version, which did not connect to the television, and an OLED version in addition to the standard one. This is not new for the console manufacturer. It has been offering more compact models of its portable machines since the Game Boy era. We therefore naturally expect the Nintendo Switch 2 to follow the same path.

However, journalists Yoolim Lee and Takashi Mochizuki have reportedly heard of the manufacturer's plans. The latter is reportedly in discussions with Samsung Electronics to redesign the Nintendo Switch 2. Big N is reportedly considering switching from the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to the South Korean supplier for its console's chips. This would be particularly advantageous in terms of production compared to the console's NVIDIA processor.

It's worth remembering at the same time that the Kyoto-based firm had already approached Samsung. It is from the South Korean company that it sources its semiconductors for NAND Flash memory, as well as the OLED screens of the first Switch. However, Samsung has reportedly suggested to its client to consider doing the same for the Nintendo Switch 2. The latter will indeed only have an LCD screen.

Thus, a new Nintendo Switch 2 Oled could be considered now. Obviously, we shouldn't expect it right away. The Kyoto-based company will already want to give its first model time to make its mark on the market. It is aiming to sell 15 million units by the end of the current financial year, i.e. March 2026. In addition, it is also necessary to take into account the time for prototyping and patenting for a future version. In any case, we would not be surprised.
