Right now, each passing day brings us a little closer to the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for June 5. And while there's no doubt that millions of players will be there to support the Japanese company in the launch of its new generation, others, on the contrary, should prolong the Nintendo Switch adventure a little longer before deciding to take the plunge. And these players are naturally not forgotten by the company.
A new update for the Nintendo Switch
As proof, a few days before the arrival of its successor, the first Switch has just received a new hardware update bringing it to version 20.1.0. This includes three small fixes:
- Visual adjustments have been made to the Parental Controls menu.
- The sound effect that plays when opening the Nintendo Switch Online app from the HOME Menu has been modified.
- Overall improvement in system stability for an optimal user experience.
Nothing extraordinary, then, but it's always good to take. Beyond the improvement in the machine's performance, we should especially note the modification of the sound effect linked to the launch of Nintendo Switch Online, which can surely be attributed to the arrival of the Switch 2 and the few new features it will offer for players. Even though, as we know, the user experience should remain extremely close to the one we know currently.
It is important to stay up to date
As usual, this update should automatically download when you launch your console if you are connected to the internet. Otherwise, simply go to your Switch settings, System tab, then manually install it if necessary.
Please note that if you are one of the future owners of the Switch 2, it is essential to keep your console up to date. In fact, Nintendo specifies that you will need to have the latest version of the system software to be able to transfer data from one console to another via local wireless communication.
