The Vitale card on smartphone is available in these new departments, here is the list

Access to the digital health card is expanding. It is now available to residents of 46 departments, compared to 23 previously. Here is the complete list, region by region.

Our wallets will become increasingly lighter, but not because of a lack of money. After taking a while to get the ball rolling, the government wants to make it easier to use our official documents by allowing people to save their ID card, driver's license, or even their health insurance card on their smartphone. This has recently become possible for the latter, with work officially starting in October 2024.

The advantage is obvious: forgetting your health insurance card and realizing it at the doctor's office or in the pharmacy will soon be a thing of the past. Leaving home without remembering to take your smartphone is much less common. The dematerialization of the green card is now possible for twice as many departments as at the beginning. To find out if you are affected, refer to the list below.

These 46 departments can access the digital Carte Vitale now

Since May 26, 2025, residents of 46 departments can dematerialize their Carte Vitale and save it on their mobile. Before this date, there were 23. Remember that if you have the identity card in bank card format, you can benefit from it regardless of your place of residence. For others, you must live in one of the following departments, listed here by region:

• Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: Ain, Allier, Ardèche, Cantal, Drôme, Haute-Loire, Haute-Savoie, Isère, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône, Savoie.
• Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Haute-Saône, Jura, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire, Territoire de Belfort, Yonne.
• Grand-Est: Ardennes, Aube, Bas-Rhin, Haute-Marne, Haut-Rhin, Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Vosges.
• Normandy: Calvados, Eure, English: Manche, Orne, Seine-Maritime.
• Pays de la Loire: Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Sarthe, Vendée.
• Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Hautes-Alpes, Var, Vaucluse.

As the Health Insurance website reminds us, “the deployment across the territory will be gradual, region by region, until autumn 2025.” Finally, note that the digital Vitale card “can be activated by people affiliated with a Health Insurance, Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) or MGEN3 organization. By autumn 2025, the Vitale card app will be open to all health insurance schemes.”
