While it's still impossible to say whether The Witcher 4 will live up to the absolute masterpiece that was The Witcher 3, its one and only trailer released at The Game Awards 2024 has already garnered a following. Produced by Platige Image in partnership with CD Projekt RED, it has received some great awards to recognize their very convincing work.
An already GOATesque trailer for The Witcher 4
CD Projekt RED created a surprise by presenting the very first official trailer for The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2024. This trailer notably informed us that Ciri will take over the medallion and two swords from Geralt of Rivia and will be the main character of this new saga. It also presented us in a very cinematic way one of the many quests, with the writing and the Cornelian choices that the Polish studio has the secret, in this fourth opus.
CD Projekt RED was not alone in the creation of this trailer for The Witcher 4. A large part of the work indeed falls to the studio Platige Image, specialized in 3D animation and CGI, which had also split a video "Behind the scenes" to tell us more about its creative process. This single trailer of the game in any case made an impression, to the point of winning the gold medal in the "Gaming - Marketing - Trailer" category at the 2025 Art Directors Club ceremony recently held in New York.
According to the ceremony, the trailer for The Witcher 4 therefore represents the best of what was done last year in the field of video games. Does this mean that the game itself will also win other prestigious awards? It's still too early to say, since it's not expected to be released until 2027/2028. However, we can expect The Witcher 4 to deliver a graphical slap thanks to Unreal Engine 5, and we hope that the writing quality of its story and quests will be on par with CD Projekt RED's latest productions.
