There are very few highly durable and waterproof smartphones available at launch for less than €200. But here's one that's just been released. It's IP69 and MIL-STD-810H certified. It boasts a fairly comprehensive spec sheet. It's available in 4G and 5G versions. Here are all the details.
Our smartphones accompany us every day, wherever we go. They have often replaced our diaries and our address books. They replace our GPS, our media player, our game console, and sometimes our television. Thanks to them, we send less mail and we have reduced the number of documents in our wallet. And soon, our keys will be stored there. Suffice it to say that the robustness of smartphones is becoming important.

Premium smartphones often benefit from cutting-edge materials and a solid architecture to protect the phone against all the inconveniences of everyday life. Accidental drops. Splashes or immersion in water. Dust infiltration. Extreme temperatures (hot or cold). Between 450 euros and 700 euros, you have the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro, which Motorola unveiled in April 2025. At around 400 euros, you have the Edge 60 Fusion. But what about more affordable smartphones? These protections are already less common there. This is even more true in price segments below 200 euros.
This new affordable smartphone from Oppo is waterproof and extremely resistant
In this range, we know the Realme C75, released in February 2025 and priced from 199 euros. A second model was unveiled a few days ago: the Oppo A5 Pro. This phone, certified IP69 against water and dust and MIL-STD-810H against complete immersion, drops, and extreme temperatures, comes in two versions, with or without 5G. And the second is available for less than 200 euros. Anyone looking for an inexpensive yet rugged phone can therefore turn to this new model.
The frame of these two smartphones is made of aluminum, while the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. Moreover, they are not only rugged. They are also complete. You'll find a 6.67-inch IPS screen with brightness up to 1000 nits with HDR content. The battery capacity goes up to 5800 mAh. It's compatible with 45-watt fast charging. A fingerprint reader is present on the edge. There are two asymmetrical speakers. And you'll even find a memory expansion port to increase the 256 GB already available.
The Oppo A5 Pro's spec sheet is complete despite some concessions
Of course, there are some concessions to be made. The screen is only 720p. There's no telephoto lens or panorama module. There's no WiFi 6. Performance isn't mind-blowing either. But, the A5 Pro does the job if your usage remains classic (social networks, messaging, web, audio and video streaming, etc.). There are some differences between the 5G and 4G models: the SoC (Dimensity 6300 for one and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 for the other), the refresh rate (120 Hz and 90 Hz), the Bluetooth connection (5.3 and 5.0). The Oppo A5 Pro is already available. The 4G version is priced at 199 euros and the 5G version at 249 euros. Here are some of the important elements of their common technical sheet:
- 6.67-inch 70p IPS display
- Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 or Dimensity 6300 processor
- 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage expandable via microSDXC
- 5800mAh battery with 45-watt fast charging support
- 50MP main camera, f/1.8 aperture lens with autofocus
- 8MP selfie camera, f/2.0 aperture lens
- Dual speakers
- Android 15
- IP69 and MIL-STD-810H certification
