Apple is expected to introduce three major design changes to its iPhones over the next two years.

We won't recognize the iPhone anymore, Apple is ready to change everything

In recent years, the iPhone design can't be said to have changed much. The main change was replacing the notch introduced by the iPhone X with a more discreet and functional Dynamic Island. On the back, the camera block hasn't changed much since the iPhone 11 either. We also find the system of flat edges with rounded corners for many generations. Apple's motto is to improve the design of its iPhones in small ways without disrupting them in order to maintain their identity and create a kind of continuity.

The flaw in such an approach is that the company can be accused of resting on its laurels and lacking innovation and originality. But the models that will be released in the coming years should break with this tradition. According to Digital Chat Station, a reputable industry leaker, we can expect a major design change in 2025, 2026, and 2027.

A 100% front-facing iPhone 19 in 2027?

What's coming this year has already been widely documented. The iPhone 17's camera unit will be redesigned. Gone is the square in the top left corner on the iPhone Pro, this element will now extend across the entire width of the rear panel, a bit like what Google has been doing with its Pixels for several years.

The iPhone 18 should experience a revolution on the front: the Face ID sensors would be hidden under the screen, while the front camera would be housed in a punch-hole, as on most Android smartphones for the past few years. This should save display space, without sacrificing image quality.

Finally, by 2027, Apple would be ready to move all its optics to the front under the screen, even the photo sensor. Let's take this information with a grain of salt, however, because the company has a habit of recycling its designs and technologies. It may seem surprising that it would launch a new design with Face ID only under the screen, only to change the following year by also positioning the selfie camera there. It's also likely that only the Pro iPhones will benefit from these new features initially.
