While writing down your Wi-Fi password on a piece of paper isn't the best solution, trying to remember it can quickly become a headache. If you don't have it saved anywhere, not even in a password manager, you can always ask Windows 11 to show it to you.
Microsoft's operating system saves all the Wi-Fi passwords for the Wi-Fi networks you've connected to. You can easily retrieve your Box's Wi-Fi connection password by searching through Windows settings to display it in clear text.
You will then just have to copy it to share it with a third party, or save it in a password manager worthy of the name.
1. Open Settings
Start by opening Windows 11's Settings. To do this, use the keyboard shortcut Windows + i.
2. Go to Known Networks
Now select Network & Internet in the left column, then click on the Wi-Fi menu.
Now go to the Manage known networks section.
3. View Saved Wi-Fi Passwords
You should see a list of all the Wi-Fi networks your PC has already connected to. Click on the network for which you want to recover the password to access its detailed information.
In the new window that opens, click on the Show button located at the top of the window, on the Wi-Fi network password line.
A pop-up should then open on the screen with the Wi-Fi connection password displayed in clear text as well as a QR Code.
Take the opportunity to copy the password to store it securely in a password manager. You can also take out your smartphone, or any other device with a camera capable of scanning a QR code, even another PC to quickly connect to Wi-Fi.
