With this new number, cold calling will be a distant memory!

Faced with this persistent problem, Af2m (French Association of Mobile Operators) recently modernized the 33700 website, designed to facilitate the reporting of unsolicited communications. The site now offers a more intuitive interface with expanded reporting options, such as screenshots and an online form, allowing for faster complaint processing. Once a report is made, it is forwarded to the user's operator and the operator of the number concerned for processing. This process is free of charge, which improves the service's accessibility.

33700 gets a makeover

The updated site offers two main methods for reporting: via a standard form or by screenshot, the latter being really easy since you simply scan a QR code directly with your smartphone. This underlines the platform's commitment to making reporting as simple and quick as possible. Each report is an act contributing to the "digital tranquility" of all, assures the platform.

With this new number, cold calling will be a distant memory!

33700, created in 2008, is the result of close collaboration between Af2m and the Directorate for the Repression of Fraud (DGCCRF). This initiative was implemented to address the growing nuisance of unsolicited calls and messages by providing consumers with a simple and direct way to report these abuses.

Inscribed in the Consumer Code since 2014 (in Article 224-51), the 33700 number is a central and little-known tool in the system for protecting consumers against abusive canvassing practices. The platform has evolved over the years, adapting to new technologies and the tactics of canvassers.

In addition to the 33700 number, other means are available to consumers to protect themselves against telephone canvassing. The Bloctel platform, although limited to certain categories of canvassing, offers free registration to block unwanted commercial calls. Consumers can also opt to be added to the red list via their telephone operator's customer area. In addition, the Signal Conso website offers the possibility of reporting any abuse of canvassing, whether spam or door-to-door canvassing, directly to the fraud prevention agency.

These tools, while effective, are regularly circumvented by companies that exploit vulnerabilities or specifically target their own customers. Thus, despite significant progress in the fight against unwanted calls and text messages, it is still very difficult to have complete peace of mind with your phone!
