With the current political and economic situation, it was only a matter of time. While the price of Nintendo Switch 2 games is still the subject of much discussion, Sony said it was forced to increase the prices of some of its PS5 models in its key territories. As expected, Xbox couldn't avoid it for long. Microsoft has just confirmed a price increase for the Series X, accessories, etc. and soon games.
Xbox consoles and games see their prices climb
While most of us were quietly enjoying our holiday and the good weather, a sharp-eyed ResetEra user had spotted a sudden price increase of 50 euros for the various Xbox Series models at Micromania. It only took a few hours for Microsoft to confirm a global price increase, which impacts the entire world, including Europe. All products of the green brand will be affected, without exception, the price increase (which can climb to more than 15% depending on the product) is now effective for all consoles and accessories. To give you an idea, an Xbox Series S will now cost as much as a PS5 Digital and a 2TB Series X is more expensive than a PS5 Pro.
With these new prices, the Xbox Series have seen their prices increase by 20% since their complicated launch in November 2020. Here are all the new Xbox prices for France and the rest of Europe:

Xbox games will also see their prices increase to 89.99 euros later this year, around the holiday season. According to WindowsCentral's sources, several Microsoft members have confirmed that game prices will still be adjusted depending on their scale. AAA productions like Call of Duty should then be capped at €89.99, while more modest ones should range between €50 and €60. The Games Pass is currently spared from this new pricing policy.
