7 Mods That Will Change Your Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Experience
Recently endorsed by Hideo Kojima himself, Clair Obscur continues its magnificent journey. The Japanese game designer, whose Death Stranding 2: On the Beach hits our shelves this June 26th, praised the merits of the Sandfall Interactive studio and its small team of developers for having delivered a game of this caliber.
While a photo mode is desired by a large portion of players, the game has a lot of assets up its sleeve to position itself as a serious contender for the next GOTY 2025 title.
Those who operate under the PC flag can nevertheless modify the gaming experience offered by the Montpellier studio by downloading mods offered by the community. From interface modifications to those that profoundly transform the gameplay, there is something for everyone. Enough to draw up a small list of the most interesting mods. Be careful though for the most completionists, some mods can prevent you from unlocking certain trophies and therefore hinder your quest for 100%.
#7 Coop Mod - play with up to 3 players
Want to share your gaming adventure with your friends? The Coop mod allows you to play with 2 or 3 players during the combat phases (yes, exploration is done solo). Once the Mod is downloaded (see instructions below), you just need to connect or plug in your controllers, and you can then take control of Mael or Lune against the enemies.
#6 Easier or Harder Dodge and Parry - make fights easier or harder
The turn-based combat system is one of the linchpins of Sandfall's gameplay. By reinventing the J-RPG-inspired gameplay to base it on dodging and parrying at the right time, the studio offers its players a kind of dance where they have to memorize the opponents' patterns. While the level has been lowered thanks to the recent update, players can also fine-tune the timing of dodging or parrying, from 5 times easier to 1.5 times harder. This is a great way to increase the challenge for those who have mastered the specifics of the combat mode.
#5 C OEXP33 - The Definitive Performance Mod - Improve Game Performance
On PS5 or Xbox Series XIS, the game runs at 60 fps in performance mode. On PC, the game and its Unreal Engine 5 require fairly high system requirements to appreciate all the specificities of Lumière and its vast world. Unfortunately, the game suffers from performance issues, some capricious textures, and framerate drops, especially during cutscenes (especially on consoles). Photorealists will find what they're looking for thanks to several presets. Some very advanced settings will make the game look splendid, at the expense of performance, while others will improve performance without, however, spoiling the Painter's paintings.
We also recommend the mods Ultimate Engine Tweaks and Clair Obscur Fix. The first improves the game's performance and stability without compromising fps, while the second eliminates certain visual bugs.
#4 Better Skill Descriptions - better understand your characters' skills
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can sometimes be very cryptic, especially your party's skills. Everything will now be clearer thanks to this mod which changes their descriptions, by adding effect and damage multipliers. Very practical.
#3 More Upgrades Materials - for build testers
For those who want to test different builds and are tired of farming. Here, More Upgrades Materials triples the rewards obtained by defeating Petanks (and doubles them by eliminating Nevrons), allowing you to accelerate the development of character skills. This means more freedom in customizing your builds and therefore being able to test more Picto or Lumina combinations.
#2 PhotoMode Mod - for photography lovers
No need to wait for Sandfall to add a camera. The PhotoMode Mod adds - as its name suggests - camera functionality. Depth of field tools, filters and many other elements will now allow you to capture the world in its every corner.
#1 Alternative Camera - for those who are tired of basic TPS cameras
Tired of fixed third-person cameras? The Alternative Camera mod lets you play with presets to change the camera orientation. For example, you can move the camera completely back to see your character in its entirety and have a better understanding of your environment.
