After Harry Potter, Gary Oldman receives this immense honor

Gary Oldman, who considers his performance as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films "mediocre," has just received a prestigious honor. According to our colleagues at Deadline, the 67-year-old British actor was knighted for "services to the dramatic arts," and will now be referred to as "Sir Oldman" like fellow actors Sir Kenneth Branagh and Sir Daniel Day-Lewis. The actor, who was awarded the knighthood by Buckingham Palace, was knighted by King Charles III, along with former footballer David Beckham and The Who frontman Roger Daltrey. The three celebrities are now part of a list of 1,200 public and civic figures distinguished for their services to British society.

Gary Oldman, an actor with a very diverse range

At almost 70 years old, Gary Oldman has one of the most impressive careers of his generation. He won an Oscar in 2018 for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, six years after being nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Mole. This jack-of-all-trades is equally at home in big productions like Harry Potter, in which he plays the hero's godfather, or the Batman trilogy (2005-2012), in which he plays Commissioner James Gordon, as he is with renowned directors like Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone, Luc Besson, and Tony Scott. He delivers performances of great dramatic intensity and reveals the full range of his acting skills thanks to exuberant and colorful villain characters. Audiences consider him one of the most chameleon-like actors in cinema, and this honor bestowed by the King is well deserved!
