While the game Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released next October, the creators of the license unveiled their brand new game during the Xbox showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, and it's very promising!
Game Freak unveils its next game
Since the end of E3, major events in the video game industry have increasingly disappointed gamers. Now, the industry giants prefer to organize online conferences for their announcements, thus reducing their event-like nature. So far, the Summer Game Fest, which opened its doors on June 6, 2025 in Los Angeles, has been hit hard by this momentum from major studios and manufacturers, with few truly notable announcements. However, Xbox decided to be more ambitious than its competitors by unveiling its first portable console in order to fight against Nintendo's hegemony in the sector, just a few days after the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Of course, the Xbox showcase was also an opportunity for the Microsoft subsidiary to take stock of its many upcoming games. While we'll be offering you a recap of the conference's most important announcements tomorrow, one of them particularly caught our attention. It's Beast of Reincarnation, the next from Japanese studio Game Freak, to whom we owe the Pokémon license. Scheduled for 2026 on Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 5, this action-adventure game will plunge us into the distant future, in which a samurai faces Yōkai and Mecha while humanity awaits its inexorable extinction.
From what we saw in the short trailer for Beast of Reincarnation, its visual universe is absolutely sumptuous. The presence of a deer god and wolves almost gives the title a Princess Mononoke vibe. The trailer highlights what promise to be tricky fights against gigantic bosses. We can feel the clear influence of Elden Ring from rival studio FromSoftware, led by Hidetaka Miyazaki. The official synopsis has also been revealed:
In a post-apocalyptic Japan, a country ravaged by corruption and infested with monstrous beasts, humanity's last hope may rest with Emma, an outcast cursed like an Overgrown, and Koo, her faithful canine companion.
Survive a journey through a menacing and constantly evolving world, where dangerous forests can arise in the wastelands.
As Emma and Koo delve deeper into the unknown, their bond strengthens, and with it, strange powers blossom.
Discover what it means to be human in Beast of Reincarnation, a sprawling single-player, one-dog action RPG built around technical and demanding combat.
Beast of Reincarnationhas everything it takes to become one of the most anticipated games of 2026, alongside Grand Theft Auto VIand The Duskbloods. For now, no announcement has been made regarding a release of the game on Nintendo Switch 2. However, it is possible that a port will be announced later by Big N. Unless the skills of Nintendo's new hybrid console - which is close to a PlayStation 4 Pro - are insufficient to run it properly? We are curious to know your opinion on the matter; do not hesitate to give it to us in the comments section. And to discover our review of the Nintendo Switch 2, it's here.
