Amazon prepares for an 'agentic' era: towards massive job cuts?

While we already knew that Amazon was very interested in using artificial intelligence and robots to automate tasks, as we recently read with the announcement of "delivery robots," the American company could go even further...

It is in a note addressed to employees and made public on the Amazon website this Tuesday, June 17, that CEO, Andy Jassy, made a very important statement about the future of employment within the company.

In a long tirade, the latter returns to the current use of artificial intelligence within the company, and recalls that Amazon already uses AI in "almost" all areas.

However, in his message, Andy Jassy recalls that if artificial intelligence has completely revolutionized the company's working methods, this has never been to the detriment of customers, going so far as to develop its own shopping assistant with AI used by tens of millions of customers.

Even though Amazon is now established in several countries, including France, the impact of this decision could be felt first in the United States.

According to a analysis by CompaniesMarketcap, Amazon is currently the second-largest employer in the United States, with 1.5 million employees in total. If the company decides to make massive job cuts, this could create a real shockwave in the country...
