Dawnwalker: The Witcher 4's rival is still selling us dreams at the Xbox Showcase

After working on The Witcher 3, some veterans of CD Projekt RED decided to separate from the pack to found Rebel Wolves. Their first game, Blood of the Dawnwalker, published by Bandai Namco, has been the subject of several announcements, and is still showing its teeth during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 as part of the Summer Game Fest. In any case, this is a good alternative while waiting for The Witcher 4, since the title is also taking the opportunity to specify its release window.

After leaving CD Projekt RED, the veterans who founded Rebel Wolves aimed to offer open-world RPGs that tell gripping stories and, above all, are fun to play. Their first attempt in this direction takes the form of Blood of the Dawnwalker, which invites us to explore a dark fantasy universe where vampires reign supreme.

Instead of Geralt, Rebel Wolves invites us to play as Coen, a young man who is bitten by a vampire to become a Dawnwalker. Namely, a hybrid between human and vampire, capable of walking during the day and enjoying bloody vampiric powers. His main objective: to save his family. He has 30 days and 30 nights to do so, in a vast world where the player's freedom will be at the forefront in choosing his path.

Who says acquiring vampiric powers says that Coen's humanity risks being severely tested. Moral choices should therefore still be legion in Blood of the Dawnwalker, with the added bonus of gameplay that promises to be edgy and dynamic. A rather promising program on paper, which we will be able to discover during 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
