Slides can be dangerous. Between poorly designed slides, burns from excessive speeds, and accidents caused by third parties, injuries are relatively common, whether the slides are water-based or not. The American man, Eugene Strickland, is seeking $50,000 in damages from the theme park giant in a lawsuit filed on May 29 in Orange County, Florida. It was while riding the Downhill Double Dipper (DDD) at Disney's Blizzard Beach water park on July 31, 2021, that Strickland allegedly suffered injuries. catastrophic.

"Our client was seriously injured while riding a ride at Disney's Blizzard Beach," said John Morgan, founder of the law firm Morgan & Morgan, which represents Strickland, and attorney Alberto Oliveri in a statement to CBS MoneyWatch. "He filed a lawsuit alleging that the defendant's lax safety measures and supervision contributed to these injuries. We seek justice for him and are working to hold Disney accountable for its alleged negligence."

However, Strickland, who weighed 330 pounds at the time of the incident, was 33 pounds over the weight limit for the water ride. And it was allegedly because the ride was traveling too fast that he was dislodged from the slide. Thrown into the scenery, Strickland landed forcefully on the slide's plastic surface, allegedly causing him "serious bodily injuries." "Disability, scarring, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity to enjoy life" are the damages alleged to be numerous, according to the complaint.

The question in this lawsuit is whether Disney advertised the weight limit just before the ride.Strickland claims the theme park is liable for his injuries, stating that Disney had "a duty to warn him of the dangerous conditions on the DDD high-speed water slide." Disney has not yet commented on this lawsuit or the signs surrounding the slide.
