Ironheart will begin streaming on Disney+ in a few days. On this occasion, Robert Downey Jr. expressed his support for the series and its actors, definitively turning the page on Iron Man.
A little over a year ago, Robert Downey Jr. said he would happily reprise the role of the superhero Iron Man in the MCU. The situation has since evolved, and the actor is no longer expected to return as Tony Stark. This doesn't mean he's disappeared from Disney and Marvel's plans, however, as he's expected to make his big comeback in Avengers: Doomsday, in which he will now play Dr. Doom, who appears to be the film's antagonist.
Now that he's been able to mourn the loss of the character he played for over ten years, Robert Downey Jr. can give his blessing to the next generation. This is symbolized by actors Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos, who star in the Ironheart series. It features Riri Williams, who was previously seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, developing an armor similar to Ironman's.
Iron Man endorses Ironheart
“Ms. Thorne, I couldn't be happier to see you bring Riri Williams to life,” Robert Downey Jr. said in a video posted on Good Morning America, where Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos were promoting the series. Endorsing Dominique Thorne, he also has a few words for Anthony Ramos, who plays Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, in Ironheart. He jokingly says he hopes his character's green hood isn't a sign that he'll be taking her place in a few years as Dr. Doom.
“Iron Man loves Ironheart,” concludes the actor, who has already expressed his support for the series in the past. The passing of the torch went well, but it remains to be seen how the series will be received, as it doesn't seem to be particularly captivating the crowds. The Ironheart trailer, however, tries to whet our appetites, as the first three episodes of this miniseries will air on June 25, 2025, on Disney+.
