Resident Evil 9 Officially Announced With a Release Date That Will Surprise You

Resident Evil 9 has been on everyone's lips since its development was announced several months ago. Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi is at the helm of this highly anticipated new installment. After being the subject of numerous rumors, Capcom's next big title was finally made official at Summer Game Fest 2025.

Resident Evil 9 finally shows itself!

After convincing everyone with the excellent Monster Hunter Wilds, which continues to be a hit, Capcom can now get busy communicating about its other big games. With the unexpected and highly anticipated reboot of Onimusha coming very soon, many fans were just waiting for one thing: news of the new Resident Evil. After making headlines on numerous occasions thanks to several renowned insiders, the next major iteration of the franchise was finally revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2025 conference. And the least we can say is that the hype is at its peak.

We were promised Leon, we were told about an Asian island and we had received none of that so far. Resident Evil 9 Requiem presented itself at Summer Game Fest with a most enigmatic trailer, but one that also and above all makes us terribly want it. We meet a certain Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technician who could be the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. The latter seems to be investigating mysterious disappearances, but before we can learn more, the trailer reveals the city of Racoon City, reduced to ashes.

We even have a release date and it's coming very soon

For now, we know absolutely nothing about this highly anticipated game, which has generated a lot of excitement among the entire audience, but the hype is at its peak. Fans who were hoping for a return to the roots could well be delighted, even though rumors told us about an open world in particular or other features that don't particularly sell dreams.

As it stands, this Resident Evil 9 Requiem is terribly tempting and promises a once again very gloomy atmosphere, like Resident Evil 7, from the same creator. The game will be detailed more in the coming weeks and we are also promised that it will be playable at Gamescom this year. Finally, as if the surprise of the announcement wasn't enough, the game gave us its release date and it's coming very, very soon since Resident Evil 9 Requiem is expected for February 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
