After a Scott Pilgrim VS The World: The Game developed by Ubisoft that managed to bring everyone together almost 15 years ago, the franchise had not given any sign of life since, much to the dismay of fans. We had to wait until Summer Game Fest 2025 to get any news. Scott and his friends have just made a surprise announcement that everyone was eagerly awaiting, and it looks awesome.
Scott Pilgrim makes his big return to the video game scene
A true gem of the beat 'em all genre, Scott Pilgrim VS The World: The Game was simply brilliant. Packed with good ideas, incredibly fun and dynamic, the game quickly won over players. But after that, radio silence, the franchise had practically disappeared from the landscape until today, apart from a recent series on Netflix in 2023. Against all expectations, a new game in the Scott Pilgrim universe, codenamed EX, was presented at Summer Game Fest 2025 with a video and a bit of gameplay that already promises to be very, very heavy.
This time, it's not Ubisoft who is in charge, but Tribute Games, a very talented studio that has proven its mastery of the beat'em all genre with very good titles like TMNT Shredder's Revenge. It therefore brings its expertise in the genre to give a second wind to a monument in its category, which takes the form of Scott Pilgrim EX.
As in the previous game, we will be able to play, in addition to Scott himself, Ramona Flowers, and five other of his friends. The whole thing can be explored both solo and multiplayer, in levels full of enemies and ways to take them down, in addition to our characters' fists and feet. To discover Scott Pilgrim EX, however, you will have to be a little patient. For now, we only have a very vague release window: 2026, on PC and consoles.
