Summer Game Fest 2025: The Big Recap, Between Nice Surprises and Disappointments
June 10, 2025
The conference ball is back this summer with the highly anticipated Summer Game Fest! Hosted by Geoff Keighley, this grand opening night set the tone. Once again, the announced program was colossal and there were also surprises. However, not all the expected announcements were there. Despite quality presentations, there were some disappointed people this evening.
Highlights of Summer Game Fest 2025
The opening night of Summer Game Fest definitely did not disappoint! Publishers responded with some great announcements. Among the anticipated games, Death Stranding 2 had little to offer with the introduction of two new characters before its more detailed presentation this weekend. Let's also mention Mafia The Old Country, which did not disappoint, transporting us to an atmosphere reminiscent of Sicily. However, still no gameplay.
Highly anticipated sequels were finally shown. We notably had gameplay for Code Vein 2. Biggest surprise: Mortal Shell 2 opened the conference with panache. The challenge will be tough. Atomic Hearts 2 made a strong impression. In a completely different genre, the leaks for Jurassic World 3 were right. The game looked good tonight.
The indies were also there. MIO made a good impression with its new trailer, the same for the sumptuous TOWA and the Guardians. We'll also remember Mixtape and its retro aesthetic combined with a cult playlist. Acts of Blood hit hard with its Sifu vibes. We'll keep an eye on this one too!
As is often the case, horror games were in the spotlight at the Summer Game Fest. Dying Light The Beast finally gave its release date with new images. The enigmatic Ill broke jaws again with a hard-hitting trailer. But the one that really got on our nerves was Resident Evil 9! The game has finally become official, with a release date as a bonus.
