It's now official! The next installment in the Resident Evil saga is called Requiem. It's indeed Resident Evil 9 and it's coming soon. In fact, the title is already scheduled for February 27, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. It was during the Summer Game Fest ceremony, at the end of the conference, that Capcom offered us a first trailer of more than three minutes which already makes our mouths water.
Resident Evil 9: Requiem, the new era of survival-horror
It's official, Resident Evil 9: Requiem will arrive on February 27, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, a little less than five years after the release of the last game: Resident Evil Village (it was in May 2021).
This opus is undoubtedly one of the most ambitious and promising games in the saga. It has been in development for more than seven years (shortly after the release of Resident Evil VII) and will mark a turning point in the license. The title will allow us to play as Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the game Resident Evil: Outbreak. She should not be the only playable character, since numerous rumors also announce the return of Leon S. Kennedy.
In this title, you will have to prepare to escape death in an intense experience that will chill your blood. Capcom describes this installment as a new era of survival horror: "Advanced technology combined with the development team's rich experience delivers a compelling story with compelling characters and more immersive gameplay than ever before […] Developed on Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE and harnessing the full power of modern consoles, Resident Evil Requiem boasts spine-chilling realism like never before, with intricate character details like realistic facial expressions and skin textures, and even highly rendered sweat droplets that are sure to keep players on the edge of their seats."
Welcome back to Raccoon City
As the first trailer shows, Resident Evil 9: Requiem will take us back to the city of Raccoon City. A real event for fans of the saga, since the city was razed to the ground at the end of Resident Evil 3. So it's been more than six games since we've been back "where it all began".
Capcom Press Release
Resident Evil 9: Requiem is expected on February 27, 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. So it's not that far off. Capcom promises that new information will arrive very soon and that a first playable version of the game will be presented (to the press and the public) in August, at Gamescom.
