Of all the Summer Game Fest announcements, the Resident Evil 9 Requiem announcement at Geoff Keighley's conference is undoubtedly one of the most memorable. Indeed, even though Capcom's title had become a real open secret for several weeks, the Japanese company managed to win over fans with a trailer that was as solid as it was surprising. And according to the words of Koshi Nakanishi, the game's director, we're not at the end of our surprises yet. Quite the opposite.
Resident Evil 9 Requiem, the episode of consensus?
As Genki_JPN reports on X, Nakanishi is indeed extremely confident about the quality of this Resident Evil Requiem. So much so that he reportedly declared: "Compared to Resident Evil 7 and Revelations, I think this title is the one that will make fans the happiest." Because yes, for those who don't know yet, it is also to this good gentleman that we owe the episode that many consider to be the one of the rebirth for the franchise, as well as the one that remains - in my humble opinion - one of the most underrated of the series to date.
And knowing that, despite the excellent reviews it has received since its release, Resident Evil 7 remains an episode that still divides fans a lot, could it be that Resident Evil 9 Requiem is destined to become the one of great reconciliation for all? This is what Nakanishi seems to believe for the moment. And when we see all the reactions that there have been since the trailer was released last week, we strongly want to believe it. Because so far, we can say it: the feedback has been more than glowing.

We confirmed this ourselves in our preview of Resident Evil 9 Requiem, fresh from a presentation held by Capcom in Los Angeles as part of the Summer Game Fest. A presentation that left us wanting only one thing: to see more! But for that, we will unfortunately have to be patient, because the title will unfortunately not be available before February 27, 2026. That said, with a bit of luck, this new opus will also be entitled to a small demo in the weeks preceding its release... Fingers crossed.
