In the fall of 2023, the Neowiz studio struck a major blow with the release of Lies of P, a souls-like inspired by the tale of Pinocchio. It quickly positioned itself as one of the best representatives of this category on which many studios had failed, having failed to stand out from the legendary FromSoftware saga. Many fans were therefore waiting for the release of the first DLC, Overture, to extend this unique adventure.
But the developers were particularly discreet about it, even refusing to announce a release date... until this weekend when they decided to release it by surprise, without prior announcement.
A tasty prequel
For the occasion, the Korean studio has concocted an interesting narrative that will please lore fans. This DLC is indeed positioned as a prequel to the base game; Thanks to a little time warp, it gives players the opportunity to visit the game world before it was ravaged by the Puppet Frenzy.
As for the content, Overture obviously offers us a slew of new environments littered with enemies and 8 formidable bosses, generally very successful both artistically and mechanically. Fans of demanding games will be delighted to learn that the latter represent a more than substantial challenge and always just as rewarding; Those who enjoy fighting to defeat a boss will definitely get their money's worth.
But don't panic: the others won't be left out, thanks to the arrival of different difficulty levels, which was confirmed last month.
Lies of P gives in to the lure of difficulty levels
Completionists will also be able to continue their treasure hunt thanks to the integration of new collectibles, original weapons, new trophies, and so on. The Battle Memories and Boss Rush modes, which allow you to re-fight previously defeated bosses individually or one after the other, complete the package. In summary, this is an essential DLC for fans of the base game, while waiting for a possible second episode which will probably not arrive for a few years.
Lies of P: Overture is available on Steam for €29.99.
