It's certainly one of the most anticipated series of the year, Mercredi will soon be back on Netflix and it intends to change things. During its TUDUM meeting, Netflix shared no less than 6 minutes of season 2 with a Jenna Ortega who seems as comfortable as ever in her character. However, if there is one thing that has changed greatly, it's the atmosphere. The surprise is total.
Season 2 of Mercredi already looks ultra promising
We had been warned, season 2 of Mercredi should lean more towards horror and Tim Burton is more involved than ever. While we don't really know how much of this is reflected in these first six minutes of season 2, the atmosphere is clearly more anxiety-inducing. There's still some humor with a completely lunar scene at the airport, reinforced by Mercredi's serious and frozen face, which is still captivating on screen. However, the bulk of the sequence revealed bathes us in horror. Mercredi is sitting at a table, in what appears to be a dilapidated room, and several porcelain dolls in a deplorable state accompany her. Here again, we obviously feel the irony, but it's relatively far from the teenage atmosphere of season 1. At least, in this scene.
We'll have to wait a little longer to find out for sure and see the series in its entirety. The first part of season 2 of Mercredi will arrive on Netflix on August 6th and part 2 on September 3rd. As a reminder, this new season saw its budget explode to the point of breaking a record in the country in which it was filmed. In addition to the return of several key characters from the first season, new faces are expected, such as Steve Buscemi (Armageddon) and Thandiwe Newton, who we saw in Westworld in particular. A cast that has therefore grown with many familiar faces from the small and big screen. This promises to be very heavy for this new season.
