In a few days, Pixar will release its next animated film, Elio, in theaters. A production that fans of the studio are eagerly awaiting, especially after the flop of Buzz Lightyear, which is the Disney subsidiary's biggest box-office disappointment. So, for the release of its new film, Pixar has decided to revive a tradition that had been abandoned for 24 years now.

After the failures, Pixar is trying to get back on track

In 2019, Pixar had a huge success with Toy Story 4, generating more than a billion dollars at the box office. Unfortunately, with Onward, the studio did not repeat the feat, and projects like Soul, Lucas, and Red Alert did not make it to theaters and were instead offered on Disney+. Buzz Lightyear made a theatrical return, but again, it was not a success. Pixar would have to wait until 2024 with Inside Out 2 to bounce back. Meanwhile, the Disney-owned studio was working on another project, the film Elio, which was scheduled for release in 2024 but was impacted by the Hollywood writers' strike. Finally, the animated film will arrive in our theaters in a few days.

This new Pixar production tells the story of an eleven-year-old boy named Elio Solis. He fails to integrate and finds himself transported to the Communiverse where he is considered the intergalactic ambassador of planet Earth after making contact with aliens. Elio will then have to confront the terrible Lord Grigon who intends to invade the universe.

A tradition abandoned 24 years ago returns with Elio

For the occasion, Pixar has decided to revive a tradition that was the studio's trademark. Indeed, the first productions offered a blooper reel of the shoot at the end of the credits. The last time the public was able to see one was in 2001 for Monsters, Inc..

Despite the fact that Pixar fans appreciated these Bloopers (the English term for a blooper reel), they were abandoned without any real official explanation from the studio.
