In three days, next Monday, Apple will unveil a myriad of new software features for its operating systems to the world. Obviously, iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 will take up a good portion of the keynote's airtime, but the other operating systems will also be given a proper presentation. This will be the case for watchOS 26.
A little life in the Apple Watch control center
The new version of the operating system for smartwatches should benefit from the same design changes as the other operating systems, but beyond this lick of paint, there will also be—hopefully!—new features. 9to5Mac echoes one of them, which should prove very useful in use.
The Control Center, which you launch from the watch by pressing the side button, allows you to quickly activate or deactivate several vital functions: Wi-Fi, cellular network, Theater mode, Do Not Disturb/Focus mode, Airplane mode, Water mode... You can also check the watch's battery level and make the iPhone ring.
The Control Center has changed little since the Apple Watch debuted. This will likely change with watchOS 26, as developers should be able to integrate widgets from their apps into it. The center will actually be able to transform into a mini-launcher, and it will also be possible to view information from apps.
This new control center will also be customizable: from the iPhone Watch app, the user will be able to rearrange the different widgets as they see fit. This will give some new interest to this panel that is gathering a bit of dust.
