Xbox Series: A great free game to keep for life, hurry!

Right now is a great time for gamers. In addition to the upcoming Summer Game Fest, platforms are taking advantage of the period to offer games. This is particularly the case with the Xbox Store, which allows you to discover a little narrative gem, without even needing an Xbox Game Pass subscription. It would be a shame to miss out.

Microsoft is offering a free Xbox game to keep for life, but you have to act quickly

Good news for fans of strong narratives and multiple-choice games: Tell Me Why is currently being offered for free by Xbox. All three chapters of this adventure developed by Dontnod Entertainment (known for Life is Strange) are available. This isn't the first time Tell Me Why has been offered for free. In fact, this initiative now seems to be an annual event, especially around Pride Month.

Tell Me Why, which is available on Xbox, tells the story of Tyler and Alyson, two twins who reunite in their native Alaskan village after several years of separation. Together, they seek to unravel the mysteries of their family past, reconstructing their sometimes divergent memories through their supernatural bonds. A cross between an interactive novel and a psychological thriller, the game captivates with its intimate atmosphere, its contemplative pace, and its nuanced narration. While the first episode is often praised for its emotional strength, some players find the following ones a little less impactful. Still, the overall experience offers a solid one, in the vein of Dontnod's previous productions. A nice addition to Xbox then.

A beautiful message

On different platforms, Tell Me Why has sometimes received mixed reviews. Some criticize a slow pace or limited gameplay mechanics. Others denounce attacks motivated by bias, particularly around LGBT+ representation. Despite this, the majority of players praise the quality of the writing, the authenticity of the dialogues, and the ambition of the French studio. And above all, the game's very positive message. By offering the game for free on Xbox each year, Microsoft seems to want to reaffirm its commitment to diversity and accessibility of video games to all audiences.

If you've never tried it, now is probably the right time. The Xbox offer remains available until June 10 at 1:59 a.m. (Paris time)
