Free Pro will hold a conference on January 14, what can we expect?

The mystery remains surrounding the Free Pro conference, scheduled for January 14. While the operator has not yet officially revealed anything, several clues suggest that a new Freebox Pro could see the light of day.

A new generation Freebox Pro presented on January 14?

According to Univers Freebox, Free Pro could well unveil a new version of its Freebox Pro at its first conference in 2025. The current model, launched in March 2021, offers a fiber optic speed of 7 Gb/s for downloading and 1 Gb/s for uploading. For comparison, the Freebox Ultra intended for the general public, launched more recently, reaches 8 Gb/s symmetrical and integrates Wi-Fi 7. An update for the professional version would therefore allow Free to reduce the gap between its general public and professional offers.

The current Freebox Pro has already benefited from an update in 2023 to support Wi-Fi 6E. However, a new generation Freebox Pro could offer more advanced features, meeting the expectations of businesses, while remaining competitive in terms of price, which is currently €39.99 excluding VAT per month for the first year, then €49.99 excluding VAT.

A strategy focused on businesses and innovation

Beyond the possible announcement of a new box, other perspectives are opening up. Free Pro could also unveil innovations related to 5G, an area that the company had committed to exploring at the end of 2024, without having yet made a concrete announcement. The operator, which works with more than 70,000 companies and public organizations, is also seeking to obtain SecNumCloud certification, an important recognition for secure cloud solutions.

In June 2024, Free Pro launched its “Coms Pro” offer, intended to facilitate collaborative communications for small and medium-sized businesses. This dynamic underlines Free's desire to stand out in a sector still largely dominated by Orange and SFR.
