After an announcement last year, GhostofY'tei revealed its story, map, and gameplay just a few weeks ago. But the new Sucker Punch didn't wait long to reveal more, and it's doing so today via a brand new trailer. A release date has been announced, and you'll be rubbing your hands in glee.
GhostofY'tei reveals its release date
Almost five years after GhostofTsushima (time flies), GhostofY'tei is looking better than ever. A story of revenge that will follow the bloody quest of Atsu, left for dead at the beginning of the game. "Sixteen years ago, in the heart of Ezo (present-day Hokkaido), Atsu lost everything to a gang of outlaws known as the Y'tei Six." PlayStation tells us. Atsu survived, learned to fight, kill, and hunt. It's time for her to set off with six names in mind: the Serpent, the Oni, the Kitsune, the Spider, the Dragon and Lord Saito.
You see it coming, but Atsu will assassinate them one by one, armed with the same katana that had nailed her to a burning tree. In GhostofYōtei, Sucker Punch explains that he has evolved the way in which the open world can be explored. The game offers more freedom and variety than in Ghost of Tsushima, notably by letting us decide which member of the Y'tei Six to hunt down first. But Atsu isn't forced to head towards one of these priority targets and can tackle other targets, collect bounties, or even learn new abilities.
Some activities already present in Tsushima will make their big comeback, in a GhostofYōtei that is presented as a standalone. This trailer was also the occasion for PlayStation to announce that pre-orders will open on May 2 at 10:00 a.m. Paris time, and even to present the different editions. Basic, Deluxe, Collector, different items for different prices.
But this new trailer was above all the opportunity for GhostofYōtei to reveal its release date, namely October 2, 2025 on PS5. The Standard Edition of GhostofYōtei will be displayed at €79.99 (recommended retail price) on the PlayStation Store, there where it will probably be possible to pick up a few euros from various retailers. The end of the year is therefore all set, especially since GhostofYōtei will share the bill with the usual chestnuts, but also GTA VI, still planned for the end of 2025.
