Mark your calendars, PlayStation has some news to share with you. The company is preparing for its entry into 2024, which promises to be as busy as 2023 was. We're talking about the games that are coming exclusively to its consoles, but also about its hardware side, such as the arrival of accessories in the absence of a new console (again).
Exclusives
In terms of games, players have been served this year. The exclusives were few in number, but of high quality (hello Marvel's Spider-Man 2). In 2024, we expect to find more or less the same schedule, with already some games exclusive to the PS5 arriving at the beginning of the year. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of them and will complete the first opus of the remake released at the same time as the last-gen console. It is scheduled for February 29.
On March 22, we also expect Rise of the Ronin, an action game set in Edo Japan, at the heart of the story of a mysterious samurai. Finally, PlayStation is strengthening its partnership with Square Enix by inviting Foamstars to its platforms. The Splatoon-like will take us into games filled with colorful foam and teamwork. No release date has been announced yet.
Hardware and accessories
The PS5 is not just games, but also hardware and accessories. The year 2023 has been particularly busy in this regard. with the release of the PSVR 2, PlayStation Portal and Pulse Explore headphones. In 2024, Sony is focusing on style with its collection of Deep Earth-coloured plates and controllers. After a metallic blue and red, players are waiting for the release of grey on January 26.
In terms of audio, Sony is also making us wait with the release of its Pulse Elite wireless headset. It is priced at €149.99 on the PlayStation website and is available for pre-order.
More VR?
The company is not communicating at all about its plans in terms of VR. But does it even have one? The PSVR2, which was one of the machines expected this year, made a discreet entry to finally collect rather correct sales figures. But the headset did not achieve unanimous approval, and did not even manage to convince virtual reality aficionados. Its wired side as well as its small library of games (compared to its competitors) were major obstacles to the purchase.
Gamers were also taken aback by the PlayStation Portal, yet another accessory for the PS5 whose usefulness is more than specific. Overall, only the PS5 itself has managed to stay afloat, and even more than that, has managed to increase its growth spectacularly.
