Control 2 is officially in full production at Remedy

Control 2 is officially in full production at Remedy

The sequel to Control isn't exactly a surprise. It's been several years since Finnish studio Remedy confirmed it was working on a sequel to Jesse Faden's adventures. However, we still haven't had a chance to get a glimpse of this sequel. When it was confirmed, it was only a its pre-production phase.

Good news, we learned today, via the latest annual investor report, that Control 2 has just entered its most important phase: full production.

Control 2 is approaching

Control 2 is officially in full production at Remedy

At the beginning of the year, Remedy confirmed its ambitions: Sam Lake's studio wants to become the European Naughty Dog. To do this, they must follow up excellent performances with excellent narrative games. After the very good Alan Wake II at the end of 2023, Remedy has reason to be confident. Currently, the Finnish studio is working on several projects, including FBC: Firebreak, its first ever cooperative multiplayer game, which is expected this year.

Remedy is working on the remakes of Max Payne (2001) and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003) in partnership with Rockstar Games. Both games will be released as a single game. The remake will benefit from Remedy's Northlight graphics engine (the same one as Alan Wake II). The remake has entered full production at the end of 2024. For the moment, this remake does not have a release date.

Finally, the studio is working on the sequel to Control, which has also just entered full production since March 2025. The "Full Production" stage is the most important stage, where the maximum resources are mobilized for the game's development. This means that, in general, development will quickly accelerate and the title could arrive within a year and a half to two years. We hope everything goes well for Remedy, but the coming months and years promise to be intense. We wish them as much success and quality as with Alan Wake II.

As a reminder, Control 2 will be published by Annapurna. The game will be a direct sequel to the first installment (from 2019) and should bring significant changes since this sequel should not only be an action-adventure game. This new title should integrate RPG (role-playing game) notions that could radically change the player experience.
