Pixel 9a in nature: design, technical characteristics, performance, we know almost everything

It will come as no surprise that the Pixel 9a has been revealed ahead of schedule, this time in unboxing videos from Dubai-based content creators Sahil Karoul and The Mobile Central. They feature a proper unboxing of the smartphone (it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a SIM tray ejector), as well as confirmation of the technical specifications and design that have been leaked in recent weeks. Notably the flat screen and uniform bezels around the panel.

Performance downgrades compared to the Pixel 9

The smartphone's OLED screen measures 6.3 inches (1080x 2424) with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The maximum brightness is 2700 nits. The specs also include 8GB of RAM, 128 to 256GB of storage, and a Tensor G4 chip running Android 15. With its aluminum chassis, the Pixel 9a weighs 187 grams. The camera on the back consists of a 48 MP wide angle and a 13 MP ultra-wide angle (13 MP on the front).

Sahil Karoul also offers some benchmarks: the Tensor G4 displays a score of 1530 in the single-core test, and 3344 in the multi-core test. This is less than the equivalent tests for the Pixel 9 (approximately 1650 and 4000 respectively). The modem is also apparently less powerful: it would be an Exynos 5300, while the Pixel 9 integrates an Exynos 5400.

Google should soon unveil the Pixel 9a: it should even happen sometime this week. On this occasion, the search engine will be able to announce the only thing we still don't know: the price of the device!
