While most players and the industry are waiting for the slightest sign of life from GTA 6, Rockstar Games is quietly making changes to its launcher to help fans wait for its illustrious big brother, Grand Theft Auto 5. The latter will soon be offering its services on a platform where it was not yet fully available.
GTA 5 is preparing a surprise while waiting for the sixth installment
While GTA 5 was receiving an Enhanced version on PC on March 4, 2025, Rockstar Games is targeting the same platform with some discreet changes to its launcher. We owe this discovery in particular to Tez2, an insider who is generally well-informed about the behind-the-scenes work of the famous studio. He had reported in July 2024 that Grand Theft Auto 5 would arrive sooner or later on the PC version of Xbox Game Pass, after having marked the catalog of its console version with its presence a few years ago.
Fast forward to March 2025, where Tez2 returns to confirm that Rockstar Games has this time indeed updated its launcher to add support for GTA 5 on the Xbox PC application, and therefore on the PC Game Pass. Thus, its absolute best-seller should soon be accessible to subscribers of the PC counterpart of Microsoft's flagship subscription service. However, it remains to be seen whether the PC version of the upcoming game will be the one released in April 2015, or the Enhanced one released a few weeks ago. However, we can expect Rockstar to take advantage of this opportunity to highlight this PC formula, reinforced by the latest technologies such as DLSS, FSR, and global illumination by ray tracing.
This is one way to keep fans waiting for the colossal main course that is GTA 6. Unfortunately, it is still stubbornly in deafening radio silence. According to the latest news, it is still due for release in 2025, probably first on PS5 and Xbox Series. The rest of the industry is in any case monitoring this very closely, as the behemoth of Rockstar Games and Take-Two is shaking up the world.
