Hogwarts Legacy: the Solo DLC and the Definitive Edition of the Game would be canceled

Hogwarts Legacy: the Solo DLC and the Definitive Edition of the Game would be canceled

A few months ago, we learned through Insider Gaming sources that a Definitive Edition of Hogwarts Legacy with new content and a single-player DLC of "several hours" was in preparation for a release scheduled for 2025.

At the same time, we learned that the development of a sequel was also underway and that Hogwarts Legacy 2 was even a priority for Warner Bros. Games since the game would be closely linked to the new HBO series.

Today, bad news. Bloomberg confirms that this Definitive Edition, and therefore the single-player DLC, would be canceled.

Hogwarts Legacy: the Solo DLC and the Definitive Edition of the Game would be canceled

In a recent report from Bloomberg, the media outlet confirms that, according to its information, the major DLC which was to bring additional content including a new single-player story arc to Hogwarts Legacy, with a Definitive Edition is now canceled. According to initial reports from Insider Gaming, this expansion was supposed to provide 10 to 15 hours of additional gameplay with a new story, side missions, and new challenges.

Bloomberg confirms that the project was just canceled this week, following a major restructuring within the company's gaming division. The main reason is that the content was not substantial enough to justify the retail price. Warner Bros. Games would therefore have made the decision to cancel and abandon the project.

A totally absurd decision since it would have simply been enough to lower the sale price in order to avoid wasting time and money on the production that had already begun. If we can stick to this version, officially, we can imagine that unofficially, Warner Bros. Games prefers to focus on the sequel and the new game.

Let us remember that this Definitive Edition of Hogwarts Legacy had never been officially announced by the publisher. This cancellation comes even before the official announcement of the project. Warner Bros. Games has therefore declined to comment on the situation.
