And to celebrate, we announce the arrival of the next expansion, "Tarkir: Storm of Dragons" with the exclusive reveal of a new card by the Journal du Geek!
Dive back into the incredible universe of the khans and dragons of the world of Tarkir, where five tribes coexist as best they can with hordes of more or less friendly dragons. Because it was in 2015 that we were able to get to know this plane and its fascinating history: the dragons of Tarkir had completely disappeared after the death of the spirit dragon Ugin. Sarkhan, the main character of the arc, then decides to travel back in time, allowing Ugin to survive. Back in the present, the dragons are still there... and they've even taken power!
10 years later, we're back on Tarkir to face the terrifying dragon storms, which seem to no longer just threaten the plane of Tarkir and are spreading to neighboring planes... In short, a new threat to the multiverse!
The five tricolor clans are still in the game, and today we present to you a card in the colors of the Mardu clan: “Thunder of Unity“.
“Thunder of Unity” is an “enchantment: saga” type card, a recurring mechanic since its creation in the Dominaria expansion and popular with players. It will allow you to quickly draw a few additional cards (always useful in these colors) while encouraging you to bring several creatures onto the battlefield during the next two turns, allowing you to slightly increase the life gap between you and your opponent.
New mechanics are also appearing, sometimes specific to certain clans:
- The Abzan clan (white green black), with endure, will allow you to choose between bringing a creature onto the battlefield with +1/+1 counters or accompanied by a creature token with power and toughness equal to the number of +1/+1 counters.
- The Jeska (white red blue) will encourage you to play a burst of at least two spells per turn to benefit from an additional effect on the second spell.
- The Sultaï (black green blue) will use cards in your graveyard to pay the cost of a miscellaneous effect with renewal.
- The Mardu (black white red), with their mobilization, will allow you to be more aggressive on the battlefield by putting an attacking creature token into play when the creature with this ability attack.
- Finally, the Temur attunement will allow you to recast your spells from the graveyard while involving creatures on your battlefield to pay the mana costs. A sort of flashback!
The omens, specific to dragon storms, may remind you of adventures! Except that a played omen will return your creature to your library.
“Tarkir: Storm of Dragons” will be available starting April 11, 2025 in a game booster and bundle. Collectors will be delighted to find the collector boosters. Five pre-constructed commander decks of 100 cards (1 for each clan) complete the offer! Previews will be held from April 8 to 10, 2025.
