Despite a higher price, starting at 23,990 euros with an ecological bonus of 4,000 euros deducted, the R5 E-Tech is almost as popular as the Citroën Ö-C3, available from 19,300 euros with the same government aid. In February 2025, the Chevron brand only managed to distance the Diamond brand by a few copies of its Ö-C3, 3,058 units, compared to 3,034 for the R5 E-Tech.
The two electric city cars were not released at the same time, while the Citroën C3 has been available in the catalog since last September, while the R5 E-Tech arrived in December. That said, thanks to its design and its Car of the Year 2025 price, Renault very quickly exceeded the 10,000 deliveries mark at the beginning of January, and found a cruising speed despite a market that is still struggling. But during the month, manufacturers had until February 14 to deliver the models ordered before December 2, the day the amount of the ecological bonus changes.
ë-C3, R5 E-Tech and Model Y
According to AAA Data, quoted by Automobile Propre, deliveries of electric cars exploded by 59% during the first part of the month, before plunging. In the ranking, Renault lost its first place with the R5 E-Tech to give it to Citroën with the ë-C3. Renault thus places itself between its French rival and its American rival: Tesla, which carried its Model Y in third position. Behind, the figures are much less good with Peugeot and its e-208, with 1088 registrations, the Renault Scénic E-Tech (994), the Peugeot e-3008 (854) and finally the Volkswagen ID.3 (822).
In its recent news, the R5 E-Tech experienced a first recall last week, following a “potential inability to start”. A “technical operation” mentioned Renault, which concerns 15,722 units of the model, i.e. all the units delivered since the beginning. The sports version A290, under the Alpine logo, is also concerned.
