PUBG: Battlegrounds, free-to-play since 2022, is still the game with the most simultaneous players on Steam (3,257,248 according to SteamDB figures). Another staggering figure: the $9 billion raised thanks to player spending. PUBG also remains very popular on Twitch, even if its eternal competitor Fortnite and Warzone are far ahead in terms of number of viewers.
A priori, the Dutch developer PlayerUnknown Productions does not lack resources to launch into the development of its new game, Artemis. The particularly ambitious title is revealed in a trailer dedicated to its first demo: Prologue: Go Wayback!.
A trailer for the prologue of the next big project from the PUBG studio
Brendan Greene, founder of the PlayerUnknown Productions studio, has just published a new trailer for the technical demo called Prologue: Go Wayback!.We discover the different biomes to visit in this very ambitious survival experience boosted by artificial intelligence.
“As a first project, Prologue: Go Wayback! aims to testing the machine learning-based terrain generation technology we developed that enables the instant creation of millions of maps. This is an experiment and the first of three games that will serve as both standalone experiences and building blocks for the studio’s ultimate project, Artemis,” the synopsis on Steam states.
Prologue: Go Wayback! is a survival adventure set in a wild landscape. The adventure begins with only an old map and a few tools. “Your mission is simple: reach the weather station, but how you get there and whether you survive the journey is up to you.””
The world is constantly changing in this experience: prepare yourself for violent storms and other freezing temperatures. You will have no choice but to equip yourself accordingly, find resources, and take cover to face it. Players who enjoyed The Long Dark should find it to their liking.
The world is generated using machine learning technology that we will find again in Artemis. “Artemis will be a box-office experience massively multiplayer sandbox that will build on the technological advances tested and refined in our tech demo, Preface: Undiscovered World, and Prologue: Go Wayback!,” explains Brendan Greene.
It is not yet known when Prologue: Go Wayback! will be available on Steam.
