The first rumors about the design of the Pixel 10 range should not be too long now - especially if Google intends to unveil it this summer, as was the case with the Pixel 9. But in the meantime, here is already an indiscretion concerning the software side of the search engine's next smartphones. They could include "Pixel Sense" (formerly "Pixie"), a function that gives Gemini Assistant has much deeper capabilities.
AI draws on app data
The Pixel 10 assistant could thus draw information from other applications, such as contacts, calendar, messages, photos, but also YouTube and YouTube Music, Gmail, Chrome, Maps, Wallet, Files, or even screenshots. “Get the most personalized experience based on the things you do on your Pixel,” according to the description intercepted by Android Authority.
Sense will also reportedly be able to mine data from text, photo, and video files, metadata, and AI-generated content. How it works is still shrouded in mystery, but Google's documents refer to it as “personalized predictive suggestions” : Sense will be able to take notes to “suggest personal information like places, products, and names, right when you need it”.
The assistant will also be able to look at how the user uses their smartphone to “help complete [tasks] and routines faster”. It will adapt to the user’s interests to “identify the topics that matter to you””.
This is all as interesting as it is vague, but it certainly sounds a lot like the future version of Siri also capable of "understanding" the context of use of the iPhone and of using specific functions of the applications. One thing seems quite certain: Sense will work locally, nothing will be processed by a remote server thanks to the Gemini Nano model.
