RPG fans are thrilled, one of Bethesda's best open-world role-playing games has returned to the forefront in a fully remastered version. We're talking, of course, about The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered, released to (almost) everyone's surprise on April 22, 2025. As a reminder, the game had been leaked for a while when the legal documents surrounding Microsoft's acquisition of Activision were made public. Then, rumors surrounding its existence ended up growing in recent months before the official reveal. But another cult game from Bethesda had also been victim of leaks at the same time as Oblivion at the time: Fallout 3 Remastered.
Fallout 3 Remastered would indeed be a reality
If TES 4 Oblivion Remastered is a reality, we clearly have the right to hope for the imminent arrival of a Fallout 3 remaster. The source coming from official documents, there is no doubt that the project has, at least, existed. Is it in active development? Is a release imminent? After the surprise release of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered, launched like that in the middle of the evening, anything seems possible.
We have some good news on this subject since a well-known informant, eXtas1s, returned to the subject in a video to confirm the existence of Fallout 3 Remastered. After an initial round of rumors from NateTheHate, this new insider adds his stone to the edifice with his own sources. According to his information, not only does the game exist, but it is in active development and could well be released sooner than we think. He also claims that the game would be developed under Unreal Engine 5, like Oblivion Remastered, which would also be excellent news here as the graphics engine does a nice job on the Oblivion remaster. For the record, the original Fallout 3 was designed on a home engine.
Fallout 3 is the first iteration of the license with a first-person view. Released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, the game was a huge success. While many prefer Fallout New Vegas in particular for the quality of its writing, the fact is that Fallout 3 has all the nostalgia going for it. For many players, it represents their introduction to the franchise.
A remaster would also be perfectly appropriate now, as the game was released 17 years ago (yes, yes... already). And you, diving back into this absolutely cult game, it will warm you up
