Harry Potter is absolutely not a love story, so romantic interactions between the characters are as rare as they are noted. The most famous in the saga are the kisses between Hermione and Ron, as well as between Hermione and Harry, when Ron has terrifying hallucinations of his two friends together. Emma Watson looks back on filming these scenes, and reveals which one was the most awkward to film!

24 years. It's been 24 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the beginning of the famous saga, was first screened in theaters. Readers of J.K. Rowling's work and newcomers alike have fallen under the spell of the franchise, led by the acting trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Selected from hundreds and hundreds of children, the actors grew up on the sets of the eight films, along with their characters. They quickly formed a family, almost becoming brothers and sisters in their eyes. Also, when it came to the moment in the story where Hermione kisses Harry in a vision of Ron, made ill by the evil power of the Horcrux, and where Hermione kisses Ron (this time for real), the discomfort was palpable...
Emma Watson makes no secret of how awkward she felt about kissing her friends and co-stars, and in terms of degrees of embarrassment, one was even more embarrassing than the other...
The kiss with Rupert worse than the one with Daniel? Emma Watson Responds
A few years ago, during an interview with JoBlo, the actress discussed filming the two kissing scenes in Harry Potter. Comparing them, she explained that kissing Daniel Radcliffe was easier than kissing Rupert Grint (although she didn't enjoy either of those moments) because the former communicates much more than the latter. So she was more comfortable with Radcliffe, who was vocal about how he felt, than with Grint, who was quiet and reserved, and who just made her anxious.
Oh, it was the weirdest thing ever, and they only told us about the silver body paint the day before. They were like, "Oh, and P.S., we hope you don't mind, but we'd like you both to be shirtless and covered in silver paint." I was like, "Okay," if it wasn't weird enough already. Luckily, Dan is very funny and chatty and we were able to laugh about it. Kissing Rupert, he's a bit quieter, so I was like, "Oh, my God, what's he thinking?." Whereas with Dan, I knew EXACTLY what he was thinking, so that helped me.
A statement that strangely echoes that of J.K. Rowling, who once claimed that Harry Potter and Hermione should have ended up as a couple!
Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe's opinion
Emma Watson is more regularly questioned than her former co-stars by journalists about these scenes, including the almost "incestuous" kiss with Rupert Grint, but they've also spoken out about it before. In 2009, after the release of The Half-Blood Prince, he told the Mail: We've known each other for ten years, so it was a bit like kissing my sister. We were determined to get it right the first time, but our first attempt was a disaster because we both felt so embarrassed and couldn't stop laughing.
As for Daniel Radcliffe, in 2010, he confided in the Daybreak morning show:
I always thought it would be a sweet and sensual moment, and suddenly, I found myself facing a fierce kiss. She's a little wild... But I'm not complaining. There are tens of thousands of men who would cut off limbs to be in this position.
Scenes that intrigue fans, and that the actors would prefer to leave behind!
