There's no need to rub salt in the wound and point out once again that Minecraft the movie is terribly bad. That didn't stop viewers from flocking to theaters to see the disaster for themselves, making this adaptation the best opening of the year at the American box office, as well as the best opening for a feature film inspired by a video game.
Never mind the catastrophic special effects, the non-existent script, and the performance of the poor actors forced to participate in this disaster: this mediocrity contributes to making Minecraft the Movie the perfect meme to experience on the big screen. Since the film's absurd humor is only effective when exaggerated, some viewers have decided to turn their viewing into a real outlet, sometimes going so far as to require the intervention of law enforcement. Videos showing delirious crowds, who no longer hesitate to Screaming, jumping on seats, and throwing popcorn are multiplying on the networks.
Some cinemas unfortunately have no other choice but to display reminders of order at the entrance to the theaters. But against all expectations, here is that a British chain is tackling the problem by going directly to the unruly spectators.
Special screenings for troublemakers
Since the phenomenon continues to fill up and reminders of the rules of etiquette sometimes seem ineffective, Cineworld cinemas across the Channel are offering spectators one last chance to let loose in front of the film Minecraft. On April 13, exclusive screenings – entitled “Chicken Jockey 4DX” according to the trend that is all the rage on the networks – will put (almost) no restrictions in place during the screening.
“Minecraft fans! Want a screening where clapping, shouting and yelling I AM STEVE is absolutely encouraged? Come check out our Chicken Jockey 4DX screenings of Minecraft the Movie on April 13th. Have fun, but don’t act like a Creeper either. No throwing objects, no messing around and no filming the screen! (It's piracy, folks)“ announces the Cineworld group on its X account.
In France, screenings of this type are not yet a reality. But since disruptions during screenings of the film have already been observed in French cinemas, it is not impossible that some exhibitors will decide to do the same.
