Update — Netflix has indeed increased its prices in France:
- Standard plan with ads: €7.99 (+€2, formerly €5.99)
- Standard plan: €14.99 (+€1.50, formerly €13.49)
- Premium plan: €21.99 (+€2, formerly €19.99)
Netflix has been particularly heavy-handed with the plan with ads, which is increasing by 33%! The other two plans are "content," if you will, with a 10% increase. The additional subscriber that can be added to the Standard plan costs €5.99 (with ads) or €6.99 (without ads). These are the same rates for the Premium offer, to which two additional subscribers can be added.
Original article — Netflix will increase its subscription prices in France, that's now a certainty: the streaming platform confirmed it during its quarterly results. The details of the increase are not yet known, but it should be on the same level as the one that affected several countries last January: prices were raised by 1 to $2.50 in the United States (as well as in Canada, Portugal, and Argentina).
Beware of the pain
In detail, the Standard plan with ads had increased to $7.99 (+$1). Currently, it is still €5.99 in France, and it is hard to imagine Netflix increasing it by €2. We should therefore expect an increase of €1, or €6.99. Since the January increase, the price of this plan in Portugal is €8.99, but it was previously €7.99.
The Standard offer (without ads), still billed at €13.49 in France, could be around 16 euros. Finally, the Premium subscription at 19.99 euros would increase to 22.99 euros. However, we will have to wait for Netflix's new pricing schedule to be sure.
“As we bring more value to our subscribers, we are adjusting our offers and prices to improve monetization and thus encourage investment in future improvements to the service,” explains Netflix. “The recent price increases we have implemented in several major markets have resulted in results in line with our expectations. Today, we are adjusting prices in France, a decision already integrated into our forecasts for 2025.
